After completing her Master’s degree in the U.K., she received professional training at J. Thomas & Co. Pvt. Ltd. in Kolkata — the world’s largest tea auctioneering firm — where she became a certified tea blender with deep expertise in tea grading, tasting, and global tea markets.

In contrast, most Assam Kadak Chai (CTC tea) available in departmental stores undergoes a lengthy supply chain process. After production at tea gardens, the teas are transported to auction centers such as Kolkata, stored in warehouses, catalogued, and sold through auctions before being blended, exported, and repackaged. This cycle typically takes 3–4 months before reaching the destination country, where the tea is often blended again with leaves from multiple regions and finally sold in supermarkets. As a result, retail CTC teas are often 4–6 months old and may not always guarantee pure, original Indian tea.
